
Feeling Responsible Makes Employees Report Fraud, Until Someone Rationalizes It
Employees who accept personal responsibility for reporting fraud are more willing to blow the whistle internally. That effect vanishes when an excuse for the fraud is offered. Rationalizations neutralize a sense of duty.
